Juliane Poirier Lent 2019

I don’t know about you, but I like to be in control.  It feels better to me to at least feel like I have some control over the situation.  There certainly have been times when it was clear that I was not in control.  But, these occasions were sometimes scary to me and certainly did not make me feel comfortable.  I know intellectually that it is not possible for me to always be in control…

Jesus was also not entirely comfortable acknowledging that he was not in control of what was about to happen to him. But through prayer and reflection, he always came back to his faith in God and ultimately became at peace with the sense of: “not my will, but thine be done”.

Prayer:  Lord, help me know you are always in control of my life. Help me to always come to the Christ-like realization that “not my will, but thine be done”.  Amen.
