Devotion for Friday, February 22, 2013

Brooke Eikenberry Lent 2013

He came out and went, as was his custom, to the Mount of Olives; and the disciples followed him.  (Luke 22:39)

Take time to work…it is the price of success

Take time to think…it is the source of power

Take time to play…it is the secret of perpetual youth

Take time to read…it is the foundation of wisdom

Take time to be friendly…it is the road to happiness

Take time to laugh…it is the music of the soul

Take time to live…in faith and peace

Take time to stop…enjoy God’s springtime miracles

Take time to love…yourself and those around you

Take time to pray…remembering God’s blessings in your life

Dear God, we give thanks that you do not give up on us.

Show us the path you put before us daily

and give us the strength to walk it. Amen.

GPS Reflection
John 18:2 says Judas knew just where to find Jesus because Jesus had often met there with his disciples. God can meet us anywhere, but Jesus (like many of God’s people) knew the value of having a special place of prayer. Have you chosen such a place for your own prayer life? If not, will you choose one and use it often?

We keep finding “king” and “kingdom” images. We are used to living in a democracy, so these can be tough. Like all images, they have their limits. God, for example, does not rule by coercion and fear, as many kings have. What does it mean to you to make Jesus your king? In what ways is it hard for you to submit to him totally?
