“Come Up” – Mark 1: 9-15
When have you felt beloved of God?
In Mark 1:9-15, we read the very familiar story of Jesus being baptized. As he comes out of the water he hears God say “You are my beloved”.
We need to remember that we are also beloved of God and created to be the best that we can be. We just need to believe God and believe in ourselves. When asked to reflect on when I have felt beloved by God my first thought was the amazing feeling of gratitude for the miracle of my first child, a true gift from a loving God. When that child grew up and was pregnant I was invited to attend her first sonogram. I saw my grandson for the first time, when only a few months in utero but the feeling of the miracle from God washed over me again.
Looking out over our crowded dinner table last Thanksgiving at all the members of our immediate family gathered together for the first time in several years, I felt reassured that God loves me and has granted me these blessings, and I am so, so grateful.
Prayer: Dear Lord, help me to remember that I am beloved and remind me to be grateful for all of the blessing I have in my life. Amen.
