The passage, from a Psalm of David, speaks of the ways of the Lord.
I see this as the timeless natural and ethical order of things.
Here is my paraphrasing of the verses:
By the Right Way I am challenged and awe-struck.
And by staying on That Path I am ever rewarded and refreshed.
But how do I know when I misstep?
I just do my best to walk with care and caution to avoid the pitfalls.
May all my words, thoughts and inner feelings
Stay on That Path.

Each Sunday morning as I approach the Chancel, I kneel and pray the Psalm 19 prayer: “Let the words of my mouth and the meditation of my heart be acceptable to you, O Lord, my rock and my redeemer” (v.14). If you’re preparing to preach a sermon, why might this prayer be helpful to you? How might this prayer be helpful to those who aren’t preachers?
