Jeremiah 31:31-34

Just by the luck of the draw, I am given a “New Covenant”. This is God’s promise in which we are to live, to belong to in the presence of God who knows us better than we know ourselves. God’s old covenant was taking the hand of the people and leading them out of Egypt.  The old covenant was based on merit, how you performed. According to your performance, you would be rewarded, or punished accordingly.

Now God gives us a promise of pure grace. There is nothing we have to do to belong in the grace of God. God places his spirit within me and I am his! God has written on my heart more than once in my adult life. When God breaks into my consciousness, I have seen an undeniably, clear vision that seems uncontainable, direct, immediate, and adrenalin powered. I am pushed beyond fate to a quest of possibility. All I know is that God has found me and expects me to live up to his new covenant of grace. God places his spirit within me and I am His! God changes the “have to” to “want to” and suddenly I have enough time and energy to power up for God. Many of you folks know that God sent me to be a Builder. This gift was not on my agenda. But when I realized  God was sending me, I could not contain my excitement and I continue to find love and joy in accepting this covenant which has opened my life to new promise and possibility. This radical change happens when God writes on your heart, and says, “ I will be your God and you will be my people.”  What amazing grace!

GPS Questions:

How do you understand the story of the New Testament to be the story of the new covenant envisioned by Jeremiah? How is it that you “know” the Lord? How did you come to that knowledge? If you do not yet “know” the Lord, what’s standing in your way?
