Devotion for Tuesday, March 27

Brooke Eikenberry Lent 2012

Tuesday, March 27

Psalm 118:1-2

Give thanks to the Lord because he is good and his love is eternal…

His steadfast love endures forever…

When you look up the word eternal in the dictionary, you see the following:  lasting forever, without beginning or end, always existing, perpetual, ceaseless and endless, not subject to change.

Wow, how many things do you know that last forever?  How do you give thanks to someone who is going to love you eternally and forever?

I give thanks to God and praise him in song.  For the last 2 years I have enjoyed praising and thanking God through gospel singing with the Napa Valley College Gospel Choir.  Sadly, the class is not being offered this semester and I miss it terribly.  But some of my favorite gospel songs are on my mp3 player.  Whether I’m driving a distance in the car, facing some stress, unable to sleep at night, or working out at the gym, I am inspired and praising God through music and thanking God for his eternal love.

In summing up this devotion for the day, if you have access to a computer, I urge you to listen to the song, “His Love Endures Forever” by either Chris Tomlin or the Oslo Gospel Choir.  You can either use a Google search or go straight to YouTube and find the video recordings. This is the song I will be singing today.  Enjoy and Praise God!

Give thanks to the Lord Our God and King, His love endures forever
For He is good, He is above all things, His love endures forever, Sing praise,
Forever God is faithful, Forever God is strong, Forever God is with us
Forever, Forever.  From the rising to the setting sun, His love endures forever
By the grace of God, We will carry on, His love endures forever

GPS Questions:

Paul restates these verses when he contends that there are three things that last forever: faith, hope, and love. Why is love the greatest? What has the steadfast love of the Lord meant to your faith? How has it endured even through your lack of faith?
