Salvation – August 2nd

Brooke Eikenberry Speaking of God - Volume Two

A wonderful friend asked me a few weeks ago what people meant when they talk about having a personal relationship with Jesus Christ. And I’m afraid in my desire not to sound too ‘evangelistic-y’, I gave a nice answer, but not one that was as honest and straightforward as it could have been. A personal relationship with Jesus Christ for me happened the day I said ‘yes’ to accepting Him as my Lord and Savior. It’s really just that simple. I know in my heart and mind that I am a follower of Jesus and I have found my salvation in that decision. It is personal, and as the journey continues to unfold with life experience, my relationship deepens with Him.

God is waiting for ‘yesses’ to following Jesus. God is ‘Mighty to Save’. (Warning: ‘mercy’ filter required for those who don’t like non-inclusive language. God is referred to as ‘He’ in the lyric to the following song. The meaning is still there, and Laura Story sings it beautifully. Look it up on iTunes J!)

Mighty To Save

Everyone needs compassion,

Love that’s never failing

Let mercy fall on me

Everyone needs forgiveness,

The kindness of a Saviour

The hope of nations

Saviour – He can move the mountains

My God is mighty to save, He is mighty to save

Forever – Author of salvation

He rose and conquered the grave,

Jesus conquered the grave

So take me as You find me,

All my fears and failures

Fill my life again

I give my life to follow

Everything I believe in

Now I surrender
