Hebrew 11:1 defines faith as: “being sure of what we hope for and certain of what we do not see.” On checking Internet definitions of Faith, I came across one article suggesting that we have faith in many ordinary things that I had not thought of. For example: when I wake up in the morning, I know that I am in a safe place, and that I have food. There are many other things during the day that I have faith in such as my car starting and the sun coming out. Faith is a very big part of my everyday life!
When I have thought about faith in the past, it was mostly related to my religion. I have faith that God looks after me. He/She is the one who provides for me. Having life experiences has helped my faith to increase over the years. For example, with the drought we are having right now, it is easy for me to start worrying that it will last many, many years. I remember back to the drought in the late ‘70’s though and remember that it did not last over a very, very long time. Within a few years we had plenty of rain and our lakes filled to the top again.
A positive outlook on life seems to affect my faith in a very good way. My faith allows me to look at the glass as half full.
