Speaking of God, WISDOM, Week 3 Day 3

Brooke Eikenberry Speaking of God

When I was a little girl I thought I would be wise when I became an adult. It didn’t take long before I realized what a false idea that was. Growing up in a Catholic family I did associate Faith and God with Wisdom; many passages in the Bible focus on a wise man being a man who followed God. So it seemed that a life-long quest for what that meant in my life was in order. I had a meditation teacher who asked us to be quiet and know we are surrounded by unconditionally loving wisdom. Listening to that still inner voice within is the same as our connection to the Divine. So trying to hear the voice – attempting to follow God’s plan – for me means wisdom. I think like many of us I wanted to be good but this quote from Leonard Cohen sums it up for me:

“Ring the bells that still can ring
Forget your perfect offering
There’s a crack in everything
That’s how the light gets in.”
