Come study the newly revised United Methodist Social Principles! On Saturday, March 8th, from 9am to 2pm, I will be teaching the new revised and global Social Principles of The United Methodist Church. There are 4 “chapters:” Community of All Creation (ecology), The Economic Community, The Social Community, and The Political Community. The Social Principles reflect what The United Methodist Church has discerned to be our general beliefs, even as they are not church law. Come learn what they are, hear each other reflect on them, hear about the direction of the present administration in light of many of them, and talk with each other about “what then do we do”?
You can get a copy of them by printing them from https://www.umcjustice.org/who-we-are/social-principles-as-adopted-by-general-conference-charlotte-2024 or from the 2024 Book of Discipline. I encourage you to read them through if possible beforehand but we will review them together. I look forward to seeing you on March 8th.
