THE GIFT OF GETTING LOST

When I moved to Napa in May, 2018, following my husband’s death, I felt lost and scared about living alone, dealing with my own health issues after caring for my husband.  Then one day I was introduced to the mother of my daughter’s friend, Jen Herbert, Pat Davis, who promptly invited me to attend church with her the next Sunday.  We’ve been good friends ever since and I found a church home that lifts my spirits when they’re drooping.

I was reminded of my father’s farming background and the old-fashioned saying his family had:  “When you feel like you’re at the end of your rope, tie a knot in it and hang on!”  I cried when we were singing “Keep your Eye on the Prize and Hold On!” last Sunday (so similar to the old saying I grew up with).  It is a mantra I repeat to myself when I’m feeling blue and it’s only minutes before I pick myself up and carry on.

Prayer:  Be by my side, Lord, when temptations arise to lead me away from my true self, from being a true disciple of yours.  Lead me to follow your Way and Path. Amen
