Napa Methodist Church Free Community Lunch

I think the Word for this Near Year is Community

Sally ArchambaultPastor's Blog

The Church Council has voted to create a free community lunch at our church on the last Sunday of every month. The first lunch is Sunday, January 28th at 11:30am, The Church Council realized the need for our congregation to eat and fellowship together, and that the last Sunday of the month can be when money is low for others in our community.

We’ll take flyers around the neighborhood and post on social media, inviting the community to eat lunch with us on the last Sunday of every month. A different ministry team will host the lunch each month, and will provide main dish. The rest of us are asked to bring a potluck dish, of any kind, to share each month. We pray that sharing a meal with neighbors, friends, and strangers, will increase our sense of belonging to the people of God and to the human family.
Free Community Lunch Hosts:
January 28: Church Council
February 25: Staff Parish Relations
March Easter Sunday (no community lunch)
April 28: Chix with Stix
May 26: Transformation Team
June 30: Finance

What are some ways we’re creating Community?

* The Transformation Team is continuing to work with our denominational leadership and local nonprofit developers, to include workforce housing on our campus.
* Community organizer, Liz Hall, is working with the “Weaving Stronger Neighborhoods” Team to build stronger relationships within the congregation and community, and to develop community leaders and listeners.
* This coming Sunday at 4pm is a celebration of Martin Luther King Jr’s dream of Beloved Community, and Monday there are community service projects. Click here to read about these events.
* Small groups are communities where we learn, share, and grow closer to God and to others. Please tell me if you’re interested in being part of a small group (book study, bible study, prayer, new member, or special interest).
* A one-day retreat for all women is on Saturday, February 3. This is a day community, creativity, and care of the soul. Click here to register.
* A new member class is starting in March. Click here to read about it, and discern being part of that community.
