Known and Called

Sally ArchambaultPastor's Blog

This Sunday is Epiphany, Intergenerational Worship, and Communion. We’re beginning a new worship series, “Known and Called”. After the celebration of the birth of Jesus, we move into a season of hearing the stories of people discovering and recognizing the identity of Jesus. In the time from Epiphany to the beginning of Lent, we will discover the depth of who Jesus is, and by extension who we are called to be as His followers. How are we known as followers? What identifies us in such a way that others see an unmistakable likeness in us? Click here to listen to one of the carols we’ll sing on Epiphany.

If you haven’t yet put away your creche, I invite you to bring the wise ones – the three kings, Magi – to put on the Communion Table. Those star-reading outsiders were among the first to whom Jesus’ divinity was revealed. They were known and called by God to be part of the Jesus-story, just as you and I are. In this new year may we follow His star on a journey of discovery about our place in the Jesus-story of love, healing, and redemption. Happy New Year!
