Between Lost and Found
How many times have I dropped everything to look for something that I had taken for granted, but now seems so valuable?
I have had days when a red pen was the most important thing for me to find. Everything else lost its importance while I looked for my pen.
Or perhaps it was time to de-stem the carton of strawberries and the only knife I will use is the one with the thick, black rubber handle, and I can’t find it.
Or the time I reached up on the shelf in the grocery store and when I turned back around my grandchild had run around a corner and was out of sight.
Or when the last of my siblings who I could call any time, passes away and I instinctively reach for the phone to call her, but she isn’t there.
Prayer: Dear God, please help me to appreciate more those things and people I take for granted. Amen
