“It is central to our good news that God was in the Anointed One making things right between God’s self and the world… and God charges us to proclaim the message that heals and restores our broken relationships with God and each other.” 2Corinthians 5:19
This past Tuesday afternoon I got a call from the hospital, telling me that my sister, a dialysis patient, had septic shock, and to get to the hospital as soon as possible. The hospitalist there told me that my sister might not live through the night, and I stayed with her, praying and singing and holding peace. The crisis has passed, although Annie is exhausted and still fighting an infection. I visited her this afternoon ~ and I apologized for my part in our troubled history. It wasn’t until I was driving back to Napa, that I realized my apology and acknowledgment of damage done was an act of reconciliation.
To reconcile is to restore to use, or to see the value and beauty in something broken… like my beautiful old sewing machine case that badly needs refinishing. I feel like God has done something profound in and through me today and I wonder where else do I need to offer the sacrament of reconciliation?
Where might God nudge you to offer the gift of reconciliation?Just wondering
~In faith,
Marylee
