Last week on Children’s Sabbath Sunday, the children enacted the Exodus story. God told Moses (played by Santos) to go to Pharoah and demand that he let the people go. Moses didn’t want to go, and said he didn’t know what to do. God (being offstage and played by Todd) was sitting next to me in the pew, and said “I will be with you.” In those words, I heard the voice of God.
These are oppressive times, and the ungodly actions enacted by the current administration make the Exodus story read like a history lesson. Maybe everyone of us now is called to be Moses: uncertain of the path through the desert, confident that God’s desire is for all people to be free from hunger and fear, and trusting that God is with us.
Last Sunday an ancient story was brought to life by our children. I wonder what part of the story you liked best? Click here to watch.
In faith, Marylee
