“The Other Way”
This moment on the road for Jesus feels both like the end and the beginning. Such are so many moments of our lives. A pilgrimage may reach its destination, but the hope, the wisdom and the lessons learned along the way have offered a new starting point for us. What have we learned and what transformation and what “other way” are we called to in the name of right relationship in our lives?
“Do not fret because of the wicked; do not be envious of wrongdoers, for they will soon fade like the grass and wither like the green herb.Trust in the Lord and do good; live in the land and enjoy security. Take delight in the Lord, and God will give you the desires of your heart. Commit your way to the Lord; trust in the Lord, and God will act. God will make your vindication shine like the light and the justice of your cause like the noonday. Be still before the Lord, and wait patiently for him; do not fret over those who prosper in their way, over those who carry out evil devices. Refrain from anger and forsake wrath. Do not fret—it leads only to evil. For the wicked shall be cut off, but those who wait for the Lord shall inherit the land.”

As he rode along, people kept spreading their cloaks on the road. As he was now approaching the path down from the Mount of Olives, the whole multitude of the disciples began to praise God joyfully with a loud voice for all the deeds of power that they had seen, saying, “Blessed is the king who comes in the name of the Lord! Peace in heaven, and glory in the highest heaven!”
