Between Intention and Action
Soul Friends in the Classroom
Lent is a season of reflection, renewal, and accountability. As we journey through these forty days, we are invited to examine our hearts and align our actions with our best intentions. But who holds us accountable? Who reminds us of the commitments we have made to grow, to love, and to serve?
For me, my soul friends are the students I encounter in classrooms where I support teachers who strive to implement best practices—practices that elevate student voice, inclusion, and diversity of thought. These students, especially those from historically marginalized groups, remind me why this work matters. They push me to stay true to my values, to advocate, and to ensure that every learner has access to a space where they are seen, heard, and empowered. Their presence keeps me accountable for my intentions, transforming my work from theory into action.
This Lent, may we all seek out and cherish the soul friends who challenge and inspire us to live out our highest callings.
Prayer: Gracious God, thank You for the soul friends who keep us accountable to our best intentions. Help us to listen, to uplift, and to create spaces of belonging where all voices are valued. Amen
