Between Shouting and Silence

Deciding to shout out for others or to remain quiet is a perplexing task. I am referring to the immigration system installed by the current Trump administration.

There are a number of acquaintances who either don’t care about the plight of the immigrants or openly approve of how it is handled. The quandary is whether or not to risk the end of the relationship by criticizing their lack of understanding and concern for their fellow man or to bite your tongue and stay quiet. Usually the plan is to avoid discussions in which that topic might come up, which usually leaves me feeling somewhat frustrated.

I haven’t arrived at a firm decision on this, but as time goes on, I am becoming more vocal on it and let the results be damned.

My prayer: I believe Martin Luther King summed up how we should approach immigration when he said that we should judge people by the content of their character, not by the color of their skin.  Amen
